Innovations

Standard in higher design quality instead of “do-it-yourself”. Every safety guard of a machine or plant is, besides a safety switching system, equipped with a control panel, by means of which the operator can at least activate the emergency stop, on/off and reset functions. Usually, these control panels are manufactured by the machine builder according to the “do-it-yourself” principle. Especially for small quantities or in companies with their own auxiliary equipment production department, which only manufacture small series, this is a highly uneconomical operation, which does not always produce the desired result from the technical or aesthetical point of view.  more More functions for a more attractive price: the advantages of standardisation Until now, the SRB 211 series featured different safety-monitoring modules for the evaluation of the signals of conventional safety switchgear, magnetic safety switches and optoelectronic safety guards, the so-called AODP´s. The new SRB 211 series enables wiring all three types of safety switchgear to the same safety-monitoring module.  more With the foundation of Safety Control GmbH, the Schmersal Group has considerably extended its program in this field of machine safety. In addition to the universally applicable safety light grids and curtains of the SLC/SLG 220 and 420 series (type 2 or 4 to IEC/EN 61 496), the devices were presented in special designs, e.g. the world’s most compact safety light curtain of the world with control category 4 / type 4 to IEC/ EN 61496 at the Hanover Fair 2009.  more

The comprehensive product programme of switchgear for automation and safety technology from the Schmersal Group is presented in a wellstructured manner at www.schmersal.net.  more SISTEMA is Safety Integrity Software Tool for the Evaluation of Machine Applications provided by IFA Germany. The tool provides an Easy Application of the Control Standard EN ISO 13849-1. Schmersal has set up an own library of its products, which can be integrated into SISTEMA in order to use technical data of most of our relevant safety devices by easy drag & drop functionality.  more This 1st Edition of the Guide to application of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC includes comments on the Preamble, on the legal provisions set out in the Articles, on the essential health and safety requirements set out in Annex I and on the requirements for Declarations set out in Annex II.  more
