bauma 2019: Quality - Productivity - Safety

Schmersal presents system solutions for the heavy industry

Wuppertal, 2 April 2019. At bauma 2019, the Schmersal Group will be presenting integrated system solutions for the mining, cement, bulk goods and conveyor industry in conjunction with its sales partner ScanMin Africa (Pty) Ltd for the first time. Schmersal, a global market leader in the field of machine safety, entered into a cooperation with South African company ScanMin Africa in 2016. The wide range of products offered by the two companies complement each other and include systems for personal and process safety and analysis instruments for the conveying of bulk goods on an online, real-time basis. “Thanks to the sales partnership with ScanMin Africa, we can now offer extended system solutions which contribute to allowing our customers all around the world to produce more productively and profitably in bulk goods conveying and also the downstream processes,” explains Udo Sekin, Business Development Manager Heavy Industry within the Schmersal Group.
ScanMin Africa specialises in radio-isotope mass spectral analysis of materials like coal, cement, minerals and ores. This technology can be used to generate real-time information for process control and also for quality controls on live systems. By contrast, the extensive range of Schmersal products and solutions for the bulk goods conveying industry focuses on the protection of employees and processes. For example, its emergency stop cable switches guarantee the safety of operating personnel, while belt alignment switches reduce system failure times and downtimes. “All our system components along the conveyor belt are compatible and can be integrated into automation systems via fieldbus systems,” explains Udo Sekin. For the worldwide coal, cement and mining industry, Schmersal and ScanMin Africa therefore offer integrated one-stop-shop solutions for personal protection, process efficiency and quality control. The product range is rounded off by consulting services which can be utilised around the world thanks to the global network of branches for both companies.
